Capote

CrimeDocumentaryDrama114 min

In 1959, after the murder of a Kansas farm family, writer Truman Capote heads south on assignment for The New Yorker, hoping to turn the case into something larger. Philip Seymour Hoffman is Capote at the moment his celebrity, voice, and reporting skills open doors in a wary small town, while Catherine Keener’s Harper Lee travels with him as friend, observer, and sounding board. As Capote interviews detectives, neighbors, and the two accused killers, his magazine piece expands into what will become In Cold Blood, and his growing connection to the case begins to unsettle the distance he tries to keep.
