9 Souls

ActionAdventureComedyCrimeDramaRomance120 min

Nine inmates in a cramped Japanese prison cell discover a hole in the wall and use it to escape, then turn their breakout into a search for the “key of the universe,” something a fellow prisoner known as the Counterfeit King claimed to have hidden. Yoshio Harada and Ryuhei Matsuda are part of the fugitive ensemble, with the group moving as one uneasy pack after a prize that sounds mystical and suspicious at the same time. What begins with a jailbreak keeps opening into stranger territory, mixing criminal business, dry humor, and the odd logic of men chasing a rumor long after they’ve made it outside.
