Amid unrest between humans and robots in the sprawling, tiered city of Metropolis, young Kenichi (Kei Kobayashi) and his detective uncle Shunsaku Ban are pulled into the search for Tima, a newly created robot so lifelike she passes for human. Yuka Imoto voices Tima with an innocence that makes her bond with Kenichi central as they get lost in the city’s industrial underworld. Above them, the powerful Duke Red plans to unveil Tima to the public, while his son Rock sees robots as a threat and moves to destroy her first.
