Police Squad!
ComedyCrime25 min per episode
Lieutenant Frank Drebin heads into one investigation after another with total confidence and almost no competence, turning every police-procedural beat into a joke. Leslie Nielsen is the stone-faced Drebin, while Alan North’s Captain Ed Hocken tries to keep Police Squad moving through murders, stakeouts, and interrogations that keep collapsing into sight gags, wordplay, and abrupt non sequiturs. Built as a straight-faced spoof of TV cop shows, the series mirrors the solemn rhythms of old network crime dramas even as every clue, witness, and office entrance gets undercut by slapstick and deadpan absurdity.
