In a Manhattan criminal court that only comes alive after dark, Judge Harry T. Stone presides over a parade of oddball cases, stubborn defendants, frazzled lawyers, and courthouse staff trying to keep the place from sliding into chaos. Harry’s unorthodox style turns routine hearings into deadpan standoffs and running feuds, as the night shift deals with petty crime, bureaucratic nonsense, and the endless weirdness of city life. The courtroom is the center of the joke, but the comedy keeps widening to include the people who work there and the trouble they drag in with them. Harry Anderson leads the bench-side disorder as the docket keeps getting stranger.
