A straight police detective is ordered to go undercover in Los Angeles as one half of a gay couple so he can help catch a killer targeting gay men. His assigned partner is a theater-loving officer who knows the scene he has to enter, and the two clash immediately over manners, methods, and the act they have to keep up in public. As the case pulls them through clubs, apartments, and stakeouts, the disguise starts to complicate both the investigation and the detective’s private life. Ryan O’Neal and John Hurt play the mismatched cops at the center of a murder case that keeps forcing them closer together than either expects.
