A Chicago attorney returns home with news that will upend his family: he needs to tell his parents that he is gay and that he has AIDS. What begins as a difficult visit quickly turns into a reckoning inside the Pierson household, as long-held assumptions, fear, and love collide. Michael tries to hold his ground while his mother and father struggle to absorb what he is saying and what it means for their son’s future. As the conversations deepen, the film stays with the family’s shifting responses, the pain of misunderstanding, and the effort to face a crisis together.
