A Day at the Races

ComedyFamilyMusical111 min

At a high-priced sanitarium on the brink, Groucho Marx is Doctor Hugo Hackenbush, the new man in charge and the least qualified person in the building: he’s a veterinarian passing as a physician. As Judy (Maureen O’Sullivan) scrambles to keep the place afloat, Hackenbush and the rest of the Marx Brothers redirect the rescue plan toward a big horse race, hinging everything on a temperamental horse tied to Judy’s boyfriend Gil. The setup ricochets between wealthy patients, racetrack chaos, songs, and the Brothers’ habit of turning any orderly situation into bedlam.
