The Palm Beach Story
ComedyRomance88 min
Gerry Jeffers decides the fastest way to fix her marriage is to end it: broke in New York and unable to finance her inventor husband's big idea, she heads for Florida intending to divorce Tom and marry money. Claudette Colbert is Gerry, while Joel McCrea's Tom races after her as the plan spins further out of control. On trains, yachts, and in Palm Beach drawing rooms, Preston Sturges sends the couple crashing into eccentric millionaire J. D. Hackensacker III (Rudy Vallee) and his sharp-witted sister, Princess Centimillia (Mary Astor), turning a money problem into a tangle of romance, misunderstandings, and very elaborate detours.
