My Dear Liar
Drama116 min
Wu Hai, a struggling father, agrees to a marriage scam to pay for treatment for his 6-year-old son’s asthma. With Da Peng at the center and Yan Liu among the leads, the story follows Wu Hai as his friend Zhong Zhenjiang urges him to get close to Miaomiao, a network anchor who is also living on the margins and pursuing her own scheme. Framed as a Chinese drama with dystopian, cyberpunk elements, the film puts desperation, deception, and human-machine anxieties side by side as Wu Hai’s plan starts from a practical need and moves into murkier moral territory.
