Mystery Train
ComedyCrimeDrama113 min
Over a single night in Memphis, the rundown Arcade Hotel becomes a crossroads for three overlapping stories: a young Japanese couple chasing the roots of rock, an Italian widow stranded in town, and a trio of accidental thieves looking for somewhere to hide. Masatoshi Nagase and Yûki Kudô are the music-obsessed travelers, moving through a city thick with Elvis lore, while the hotel itself is watched over by the night clerk (Screamin' Jay Hawkins) and his disheveled bellboy. The film threads these strangers through the same rooms, streets, and late-night drift, with each story brushing up against the others without fully merging.
