Psychotherapist Catherine Deane is recruited by the FBI to enter the mind of a comatose serial killer and find the woman he abducted before time runs out. Jennifer Lopez is Catherine, using an experimental technique that lets her step into another person’s subconscious; the target is Stargher (Vincent D’Onofrio), whose crimes are tied to elaborate rituals and submerged torture cells. As the investigation moves between police procedure and the killer’s dreamlike inner world, the film turns into a search through bizarre, violent imagery where clues are buried inside memory, fantasy, and fear.
