Grindhouse
ActionAdventureHorrorThriller191 min
Presented as a battered double feature, Grindhouse pairs Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror with Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof and folds in fictitious exploitation trailers between them. In Planet Terror, Rose McGowan is a go-go dancer caught among survivors battling zombie-like creatures, with Freddy Rodríguez among the town’s last lines of defense. Death Proof shifts to the highway, where Kurt Russell’s Stuntman Mike turns his reinforced car into a weapon and targets groups of young women, including Rosario Dawson and Zoë Bell. The trailer interludes come from Rodriguez, Rob Zombie, Edgar Wright, and Eli Roth, extending the movie’s 1970s grindhouse homage.
