Irreconcilable Differences

The story

A precocious little girl takes her Hollywood parents to court, filing for emancipation and forcing the family to revisit how everything unraveled. Drew Barrymore is the daughter at the center of the case, while Ryan O'Neal and Shelley Long are the career-driven adults whose marriage has been crowded out by ambition, ego, and the demands of show business. Alternating between the present-day legal fight and the earlier romance that led to it, the film frames a family breakup through the eyes of a child who’s watching both parents far more closely than they realize.
