Follow the Fleet

ComedyMusicalRomance110 min

Two former sweethearts meet again when a sailor comes ashore and finds the woman he left behind still has reason to resent him. As he tries to win her back, the reunion turns into a tangle of mixed signals, wounded pride, and competing romances that spread from the dock to the dance floor. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers lead the story through shipboard routines, nightclub numbers, and a courtship that keeps stalling just when it seems ready to restart. With a nautical backdrop and songs by Irving Berlin, the film follows love affairs in parallel as shore leave gives everyone a chance to make a fresh mess of old feelings.
