Bells Are Ringing
ComedyMusicalRomance126 min
Ella Peterson works in the basement office of a telephone answering service, spending her days taking messages for strangers and learning the outlines of their lives through disconnected calls and urgent requests. The routine changes when she becomes drawn to one client in particular, a troubled playwright whose missed appointments and evasions suggest he is in deeper trouble than anyone around him realizes. As Ella steps beyond her job to help, she gets tangled in his affairs, starts juggling secrets that are not hers, and turns a professional connection into a romance. Judy Holliday and Dean Martin lead a story where switchboards, misunderstandings, and big feelings keep crossing the line between work and love.
