Uptight
DramaThriller104 min
In Cleveland just after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., grief and anger push a group of Black militants toward armed resistance until one of their own opens the door to betrayal. Raymond St. Jacques and Ruby Dee are part of an ensemble built around neighborhood bars, strategy meetings, street demonstrations, and the pressure building inside a divided community. Jules Dassin relocates the bones of an informer story to 1968 Ohio, tying personal weakness to police scrutiny, political fracture, and the atmosphere surrounding King's death, with Booker T. & the MG's on the soundtrack.
