Black Girl

Drama65 min

A young woman leaves Senegal for the French Riviera, expecting a governess job and a better life, only to find herself confined to domestic labor in a wealthy family’s apartment. Mbissine Thérèse Diop is the young worker at the center, opposite Anne-Marie Jelinek and Robert Fontaine as the French couple who employ her. As the days narrow into housework and dependence, homesickness, discrimination, and the imbalance between servant and household turn her life abroad into a portrait of isolation and colonial power inside an ordinary home.
