Bend It Like Beckham
ComedyDramaRomance112 min
Jess Bhamra is an 18-year-old Londoner with a gift for football and a family that expects something very different. Parminder Nagra’s Jess is the daughter of strict Sikh parents who forbid her from playing organized soccer, so when Jules Paxton spots her talent and brings her onto a local women’s team, Jess starts covering practices and matches with increasingly shaky excuses. Keira Knightley is Jules, the friend who opens that door, while coach Joe (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) adds another complication. As Jess chases a shot at the game she loves, family rules and life on the pitch keep colliding.
