All That Heaven Allows
DramaRomance89 min
A well-to-do widow in a comfortable suburban community begins to fall for a younger man who lives more simply and works with his hands. What starts as a sincere romance quickly becomes a public problem: her grown children, her country-club friends, and the people around her treat the match as improper, even embarrassing. As gossip spreads, she is forced to choose between the life everyone expects her to keep and a relationship that offers something more honest. Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson carry a story in which class, age, and social standing press in on every private decision, turning a love affair into a test of how much independence she is allowed.
