Son of a Critch

The story

In 1980s St. John’s, Newfoundland, 11-year-old Mark navigates school, family life, and the small embarrassments of growing up with a wit that makes him seem older than his years. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is the young Mark in this semi-autobiographical story, where jokes become his way of making friends and finding his place in a tight-knit world. Claire Rankin and Malcolm McDowell round out the family around him as the series stays close to everyday moments, local detail, and the uneasy gap between how grown-up Mark feels and how young he still is.
