A Manhattan bachelor who thinks he has life arranged to his liking gets thrown off balance when Julie Gillis, an aspiring actress with marriage firmly on her agenda, decides he might be her future husband. Frank Sinatra is the smooth, commitment-avoiding man at the center of it, while Debbie Reynolds’s Julie brings a cheerful certainty to the pursuit. As friends and would-be matches crowd in around him, including David Wayne and Celeste Holm, the film turns that push-and-pull into a glossy 1950s courtship comedy with songs woven through the mix, including Sinatra on the title number.
