The Hanoi Hilton
DramaWar126 min
Inside Hoa Lo Prison in Hanoi during the Vietnam War, captured U.S. airmen try to survive years of confinement, interrogation, and abuse. Cut off from home and from any clear end to the war, they cling to routines, codes of conduct, and small acts of defiance that help them hold onto their identities. The pressure comes not only from beatings and isolation, but from the constant demand to break, confess, or turn against one another. As time drags on through the 1960s and 1970s, the film stays with the prisoners’ point of view, showing how endurance becomes its own battle. Michael Moriarty and Paul Le Mat are among the men trapped inside that fight.
