If Beale Street Could Talk
DramaRomance120 min
Tish Rivers is 19, pregnant, and trying to clear the name of her fiancé after he’s falsely accused and sent to jail. In early-1970s Harlem, KiKi Layne’s Tish holds onto the life she and Fonny (Stephan James) planned together, with flashbacks to their childhood friendship and romance giving shape to the case closing in around them. Barry Jenkins keeps the story rooted in Tish’s point of view as both families react in different ways, while Sharon (Regina King) and Joseph (Colman Domingo) stand firmly beside their daughter as the birth of her child draws closer.
