In the port city of Yokosuka, a young hoodlum gets pulled deeper into a black-market racket that thrives in the shadow of a nearby U.S. naval base. Gangsters broker stolen goods, favors, and pork deals between American servicemen and the local underworld, turning the whole town into a marketplace where everyone is trying to get a cut. As the schemes grow messier, his girlfriend pushes for a way out, unwilling to let their future be swallowed by the same corrupt trade. Their relationship strains under money, pride, and gang pressure, while the criminal economy around them becomes harder to escape. Directed by Shōhei Imamura, the film turns this collision of romance, crime, and occupation into a sharp social satire.
