Just north of London, Wendy and Andy try to keep an unruly household moving while their twenty-something twin daughters head in opposite directions. Alison Steadman is Wendy, a talkative shop clerk who meets every setback with nervous energy; Jim Broadbent’s Andy is a cook forever sketching out plans he never quite finishes. One twin works as a plumber, the other drifts at home, angry and withdrawn, as money worries, food, and family routines turn into flashpoints. Mike Leigh follows them over a summer, in cramped rooms and half-finished projects where affection, irritation, and class pressures sit side by side.
