In 1950s Mexico City, William Lee is an American expatriate in his late forties, moving through bars and a small circle of fellow Americans with little to anchor him until a younger man upends his routine. Daniel Craig is Lee, drawn toward Eugene Allerton with a mix of longing, need, and uncertainty. Drew Starkey is the student whose reserve keeps that connection elusive. Directed by Luca Guadagnino, the film follows Lee through expatriate nightlife, desire, and increasingly strange turns as the pursuit carries him beyond Mexico City and into more surreal terrain.
