Six years after a NASA probe crashes over Central America and unleashes alien life, half of Mexico has been sealed off as an infected zone. Scoot McNairy is Andrew Kaulder, an American photojournalist who agrees to escort his employer’s daughter back to the United States; Whitney Able’s Samantha is stranded abroad and in no shape to make the trip alone. Their route to the border cuts through military checkpoints, damaged towns, and stretches of wilderness where the creatures are an accepted part of the landscape. The threat hangs at the edges as their uneasy partnership turns into a long passage through a region under quarantine.
