In 2027, after nearly two decades of global infertility, former activist Theo Faron is asked to escort a miraculously pregnant woman across England as society breaks down around them. Clive Owen is Theo, now drifting through life as a civil servant, until his former lover (Julianne Moore) pulls him into the mission. The woman, Kee, is a young refugee whose pregnancy turns her into a target as they move through bombings, checkpoints, and detention camps toward a sanctuary at sea. Alfonso Cuarón places the chase inside a bleak near-future shaped by fear, immigration crackdowns, and the possibility that one birth could change everything.
