The Simple-Minded Murderer
Drama108 min
After his mother dies, Sven Olsson is sent to work at a wealthy farmer’s property in rural Sweden, where he is used as unpaid labor and made to sleep in the barn with the cows. Stellan Skarsgård is Sven, a man dismissed by those around him as simple-minded and denied any adult dignity. At the Höglund farm, cruelty is routine until he meets Anna (Maria Johansson), a disabled woman who treats him with ordinary kindness. When Sven finally leaves the farm, he finds shelter with Anna’s family and a life outside the control of his brutal employer.
