Salt of the Earth

Drama94 min

At a zinc mine in New Mexico, Mexican American workers face dangerous conditions, low pay, and discrimination on the job and at home. When the men strike, the conflict quickly spreads beyond the picket line as their families absorb the strain of lost wages, police pressure, and deep divisions over who gets to speak and act. The story centers on a miner’s household as the wife begins to challenge both the company and the expectations inside her own marriage. What starts as a labor dispute becomes a broader fight over dignity, equality, and who will carry the resistance when the strike is pushed to a breaking point.
