La haine

CrimeDrama98 min

In a banlieue on the outskirts of Paris, three young friends spend a long day waiting for news about a friend left critically injured after a confrontation with police. Vincent Cassel is Vinz, restless and increasingly dangerous in the aftermath of the riots, while Hubert Koundé’s Hubert tries to keep a grip on where the anger is heading. Alongside Saïd, they drift through housing projects, police stops, and a city that keeps reminding them where they stand. Police brutality, racism, and the presence of a gun hang over nearly every encounter as the day wears on.
