After a hurricane knocks an American tugboat off course, its crew boards a drifting Russian research vessel that appears abandoned. Jamie Lee Curtis is the tug’s navigator, part of a battered crew that finds one terrified survivor and a hostile intelligence fused with the ship’s systems. As power flickers through steel corridors and machine parts begin combining with human remains, the thing aboard treats the new arrivals as a contamination to be removed. William Baldwin and Donald Sutherland are among the sailors and opportunists trapped on a vessel where the machinery itself has turned against them.
