Spartacus
ActionAdventureDramaWar197 min
Born into slavery in the ancient Roman world, Spartacus is sold to gladiator trainer Batiatus, forced into the arena, and becomes the center of a growing slave revolt. Kirk Douglas is the rebel fighter as Stanley Kubrick follows his break from the training school into a march across southern Italy, where escaped slaves join the cause town by town. Around him, Laurence Olivier's Crassus stands for the Roman power determined to crush the uprising, while Jean Simmons is Varinia, the woman tied to Spartacus' fight for freedom.
