Contempt

DramaRomance103 min

Screenwriter Paul Javal is brought in to rewrite an adaptation of The Odyssey for a crude American producer, and the assignment soon spills into his marriage. Michel Piccoli is Paul, caught between producer Jeremy Prokosch and director Fritz Lang, appearing as himself, while Brigitte Bardot’s Camille grows increasingly distant. Against the backdrop of a troubled production in Italy, arguments over money, art, and loyalty begin feeding a private rift between husband and wife.
