Crime and Punishment

CrimeDrama93 min

Markku Toikka is Rahikainen, a former student whose struggle to pay the rent leads him to murder. Once the police begin investigating, he moves between concealment and confession, trying to outrun suspicion while living with what he’s done. A Finnish reworking of Dostoevsky’s story, the film stays close to Rahikainen as financial desperation gives way to a criminal act and the increasingly difficult task of keeping his guilt hidden from view.
