A TV talk-show hostess and her boyfriend start looking into a stage magician whose gruesome act may depend less on sleight of hand than hypnosis and mind control. Ray Sager is the enigmatic performer at the center of it, turning mutilation into nightclub spectacle while Judy Cler's host follows the trail from studio chatter to increasingly disturbing live shows. As police attention grows and each performance leaves more doubt about what was illusion and what was not, the film keeps circling the uneasy space between stagecraft, suggestion, and violence, with the rough-edged grindhouse look of early splatter cinema.
