In 1890 London, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are pulled into a case that seems to defy reason when Lord Blackwood, a killer wrapped up in ritual and black magic, appears to return from the grave and threatens England. Robert Downey Jr. is Holmes, an eccentric consulting detective who leans on brute force as readily as deduction, while Jude Law gives Watson the wary steadiness of a partner trying to move on with his own life. Rachel McAdams slips in as Irene Adler, a former adversary whose reappearance complicates the investigation.
