They Drive by Night

CrimeDramaThriller95 min

Joe and Paul Fabrini run a one-truck hauling business, grinding through overnight runs while distributors, rivals, and loan collectors close in from every side. George Raft and Humphrey Bogart are the brothers at the center, trying to keep their small operation alive one job at a time. Around them, Ann Sheridan's truck-stop waitress becomes part of their daily orbit, while an ambitious executive (Ida Lupino) pulls business and personal lives into the same lane. Truck stops, loading docks, roadside meals, and missed sleep give the film its working-road backdrop.
