After a procedural overstep and an indiscretion involving her lover, police inspector Corinne Levasseur is transferred from Paris to a northern French mining town where a wealthy industrialist’s family holds sway. Miou-Miou is Corinne, young and impulsive, reduced to minor assignments until the suspicious death of a teenager catches her attention. As she keeps digging, the case points toward a child prostitution ring with ties to local notables, and the few officials willing to help find themselves under pressure. The investigation unfolds inside a closed community where class, influence, and the justice system are tightly tangled.
