In the shadow of the Vietnam War, a woman struggles through her husband’s deployment and the emptiness it leaves at home. As she spends time at a veterans hospital, she reconnects with a former classmate, now a paraplegic veteran whose anger, wit, and hard-won honesty force her to see the war’s cost in a different way. Their bond deepens into a romance, even as her husband prepares to return and carry his own scars back with him. Jane Fonda, Jon Voight, and Bruce Dern are at the center of a story about desire, damage, and the strain war puts on love, loyalty, and the lives waiting back home.
