At Eternity's Gate
Drama111 min
Vincent van Gogh’s final years unfold in Arles, France, where the painter works in bursts of inspiration while illness, loneliness, and suspicion close in around him. Willem Dafoe is van Gogh, moving between sunlit fields, cafés, a hospital, and tense encounters with the people trying to understand or contain him. Julian Schnabel’s film stays close to the artist’s point of view, following the making of his landscapes and the strain in his relationships, with Rupert Friend and Oscar Isaac among the figures at the edges of his life.
