After deserting the army in 1931 Spain, young soldier Fernando drifts onto a country farm and is taken in by its politically sympathetic owner. Jorge Sanz is Fernando, whose refuge gets complicated when Manolo (Fernando Fernán Gómez) welcomes home his four daughters. Each woman draws him in differently, turning the house into a swirl of flirtation, jealousy, and shifting alliances as the country changes beyond its gates. Fernando Trueba places the story in a sunlit rural household where romance, family, and politics keep colliding.
