Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond
ComedyDocumentaryDrama94 min
Jim Carrey looks back at the making of Man on the Moon through behind-the-scenes footage from 1999, when he stayed in character as comedian Andy Kaufman on and off set. As Carrey blurs into Kaufman — and into Kaufman’s nightclub alter ego Tony Clifton — the documentary follows the strain and fascination it created around the production, including director Miloš Forman and co-star Danny DeVito. The result is a close-up of an actor disappearing into a role while the people around him try to work, react, and figure out where the performance ends.
