A drifter is found near death and taken in by a Wyoming rancher who gives him work and a place to belong. Jubal soon proves himself useful on the spread, but the ranch is already strained by jealousy, suspicion, and a marriage turning bitter. As he earns the old man’s trust, he draws the attention of the rancher’s restless wife and the hostility of a hard-eyed foreman who sees a rival where there may be none. What starts as a chance rescue turns into a tense fight over loyalty, desire, and power, with rumor and wounded pride pushing the ranch toward violence. Glenn Ford and Ernest Borgnine lead the central standoff.
