At a Los Angeles studio, Tim Robbins is Griffin Mill, an executive fielding anonymous death threats from a screenwriter whose pitch he rejected and trying to figure out which one he crossed. As Griffin’s panic collides with office politics and a fraught romance with June (Greta Scacchi), Robert Altman turns Hollywood dealmaking into a murder mystery full of backlot cynicism, nervous cover-ups, and sharp industry in-jokes. Peter Gallagher’s rival executive hovers nearby, and the film is crowded with celebrity cameos that make the studio world feel both glamorous and absurd.
