The Flowers of War
DramaRomanceWar146 min
In 1937 Nanjing, as Japanese troops overrun the city, a scattered group of civilians takes refuge inside a church compound and tries to stay hidden from the violence outside. Among them are schoolgirls, women from a nearby brothel, and a foreign mortician who arrives by chance and is forced into a role he never expected. As food runs short and soldiers close in, the uneasy shelter turns into a place of fear, sacrifice, and fragile alliances. Christian Bale and Ni Ni are folded into a story about people trapped by war, where survival depends on who can protect whom when the city collapses around them.
