Ip Man
ActionAdventureDramaWar108 min
Donnie Yen is Ip Man, the Wing Chun grandmaster at the center of a story set in Foshan from the 1930s into the Second Sino-Japanese War. Respected for his skill and private by nature, Ip sees his city transformed by invasion, scarcity, and public displays of humiliation as occupying forces challenge Chinese fighters to prove Japanese superiority. What begins as a portrait of a martial artist in peacetime shifts toward survival under occupation, with Simon Yam and Hiroyuki Ikeuchi among the figures around him. The film grounds its action in formal duels, training, and the stripped-down precision of Wing Chun.
