Gangs of New York

CrimeDrama168 min

Released from prison in early 1860s New York, Leonardo DiCaprio is Amsterdam Vallon, an Irish immigrant who returns to the Five Points intent on avenging his father’s death. The only way in is through Daniel Day-Lewis’s William Cutting, the anti-immigrant gang leader who rules the neighborhood by force and spectacle, so Amsterdam edges into his inner circle while rival crews battle for control of the streets. Martin Scorsese frames the city as a collision of newcomers, political corruption, and open violence, with Cameron Diaz moving through the unrest as a pickpocket tied to both survival and shifting loyalties.
