The Man Who Stole the Sun
ActionAdventureCrimeThriller147 min
In 1970s Japan, a high school science teacher mocked by his students turns into a national threat when a school-trip bus hijacking points to the secret life he’s been hiding. Kenji Sawada is the teacher, an isolated, aggrieved figure whose apartment doubles as a covert lab where he’s assembling an atomic bomb from stolen plutonium. What begins with classroom humiliation and a sudden act of public violence widens into a tense collision of personal grievance, police pressure, and nuclear terror. Bunta Sugawara appears among the authorities drawn into the crisis as the scale of the threat becomes clear.
